How you win
This is a classic payline slot: three or more matching symbols on an active line, from the left, is a win. There are ten paylines and you can reduce them, but fewer lines means fewer ways to win.
The most important symbol is the Book. It's both a wild and a scatter. As a wild, it substitutes for other symbols. As a scatter, it pays anywhere on the reels, and five Books pay 200× your bet according to Bigwinboard. The Rich Wilde symbol is the top regular pay.

Features
There's only one main bonus, but that's where much of the game's potential lives.
- Free spins. Three or more Books anywhere = 10 free spins.
- Special Expanding Symbol. Before the free spins start, one symbol is picked at random. When it lands as part of a win, it expands to cover the whole reel or reels where it appeared. This is usually where the biggest wins come from.
- Gamble. After a base game win, you can guess the color (double) or suit (quadruple) of the next card. It's optional. If you guess wrong, the win is gone.
None of the sources we opened mention a bonus buy.
RTP, volatility and budget
The most important lesson with Book of Dead: the RTP varies depending on the version the site has set up. According to Bigwinboard, there are five versions, from 96.21% down to 84.18%.
That's a big difference. On ₱1,000 total wagered, the expected cost at 96.21% is about ₱38. At 84.18%, it's about ₱158. Same graphics, same sounds, but four times the expected cost. So always open the info or paytable screen on the site itself. Our RTP guide explains why.
It's also high volatility. That means long dry stretches of spins are possible, and much of the return sits in free spins that don't come often.
Just an example: if your budget is ₱500 and each spin is ₱5, that's only about 100 spins. In a high-volatility game, you may not see the free spins within 100 spins. If you want a longer session, a smaller bet makes more sense. See the volatility guide for matching your budget to a game.
Myths and common mistakes
- "Every Book of Dead is 96.21%." No. There are lower versions. Check the game info.
- "The free spins are due because it's been a while." Every spin is independent. The game doesn't "owe" you anything.
- "The gamble is a safe way to double up." It's a new bet. You can lose the whole win.
- "More lines means a higher RTP." Cutting lines cuts your ways to win. It doesn't improve your odds.

Where to play legally
Only play on a PAGCOR-licensed site. Book of Dead is made by an international studio, so not every site in the Philippines carries it, and we don't verify which licensed sites have it.
Before signing up, check the site's exact address with our PAGCOR license checker. Many copies and fake sites use popular game names to lure players. Only deposit inside the site's own cashier, never to an "agent's" personal GCash number. Read the safe GCash and Maya deposit guide for slots before putting in money.
