How it plays and how it pays
The system is ways, but symbols come in different sizes, so the number of ways changes every spin, from 576 to 46,656.
When one symbol takes up two or more positions on a reel, that reel has fewer "slots". When symbols are small and separate, there are more ways. There are cascading wins too: winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in. For the basics of ways and RNG, see our slots guide; for other mechanics, the slot games hub.
Features
Wilds on the Way and a free spins multiplier that grows with each win are the main features.
- Wilds on the Way. Some symbols have silver or gold frames and can turn wild when they're part of a win (VegasSlotsOnline, Strafe).
- Wild symbol. The qilin is the wild, and it appears on every reel except the first and sixth, according to Strafe.
- Free spins. Four or more scatters are needed (VegasSlotsOnline). The exact number of spins: not yet verified, because it isn't clear in the sources we opened.
- Multiplier in free spins. Rises by 1× with each cascade win during free spins (VegasSlotsOnline).
- Buy feature. Not mentioned in the sources: not yet verified.
RTP, volatility and budget
At 96.69% RTP, the house edge is about 3.31% of all bets over the long run. It doesn't tell you the result of a single session; read our RTP explainer.
Just an example: ₱2 bet × 250 spins = ₱500 total wagered. ₱500 × 3.31% = about ₱16.55 expected cost over the long run. But since big wins depend on free spins and the multiplier, the ₱500 can run out before the feature even shows up.
VegasSlotsOnline rates the volatility as medium, but the 80,000× max win (if accurate) suggests the biggest wins are rare. Set a limit before you start. Read our volatility guide.
Myths and common mistakes
A common mistake is thinking a spin with lots of ways is "closer to a win."
- "46,656 ways, so a win is almost certain." More ways doesn't mean a higher RTP. That's already built into the game's math.
- "The qilin is lucky on certain dates." The qilin is just the theme. The date or time has no effect on the RNG.
- "The max win is 80,000× on every site." Only one source says that. Check the info screen.
- "It has a silver frame, so it'll be wild next." It still has to be part of a win.
Where to play legally
Only play Ways of the Qilin on a PAGCOR-licensed site. Lots of copies and fake "PG" sites circulate on social media, so the first thing to check is the site itself, not the game.
- Check the exact site address with our PAGCOR license checker before you sign up.
- Only deposit through the site's own cashier. Never send money to an "agent's" personal GCash number. Read our safe GCash and Maya deposit guide for slots.
- If a site promises a "pattern" or "jam" for Qilin, that's a scam signal. Every spin is random.
